03 / Coloured concrete
The colour is in the concrete, not on it. That's the whole difference.
There are two ways to colour concrete. Oxide mixed through the whole load, or a colour hardener thrown on the surface. We do the first one.
Surface colour looks identical on day one and fades where the tyres go. Oxide runs the full depth, so when it eventually wears it wears to more of the same colour instead of back to grey.
Charcoal and slate suit rendered and dark brick homes. Warmer terracotta and sandstone tones sit better against weatherboard and gardens. We'll bring samples so you're not choosing off a screen.
What you get
Included as standard.
- Oxide mixed through the load, not dusted on the top
- Charcoal, slate, terracotta, sandstone and custom tones
- Samples on site so you see the colour in your own light
- Whole job poured from consistent batches to keep the colour even
- Sealing to hold the colour and stop it drying out patchy
- Works with broom, honed or exposed finishes
Coloured concrete does shift slightly in tone between batches and it lightens as it cures. That's normal and it settles down. Anyone promising a perfectly uniform colour across a big pour is telling you what you want to hear.

We do coloured concrete across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

Questions
Straight answers.
If yours isn't here, ring and ask. We'd rather tell you now than have you find out later.
Will the colour fade?
It softens a little in the first year as it cures, then holds. Because the oxide runs right through, wear doesn't expose grey concrete underneath. Resealing every few years keeps it closest to day one.
Does dark concrete get hot?
Charcoal does get warmer underfoot than a light finish in full summer sun. Around a pool or an alfresco where people are barefoot that's worth a conversation before you pick, and we'll raise it rather than just take the order.
Can you colour match my house?
We can get close. Bring us a brick, a render sample or a photo and we'll put oxide samples against it on site.
