02 / Exposed aggregate
Ten years of school runs and it still looks like the day it went down.
Exposed aggregate is normal concrete with the top skin of cement washed back so the stone underneath shows through. That's the whole trick.
What you get is a surface that wears better than a plain slab, isn't slippery when it's wet, and hides the tyre marks and leaf stains that make an ordinary driveway look tired after two years.
It's the finish most Geelong homes ask us for, and the one people are still happy with a decade on.
What you get
Included as standard.
- Granite, river stone and custom blends to choose from
- Samples laid on your site so you see the stone in your own light
- Washed back at the right moment, so the stone density stays even
- Sealed if you want it, matt or wet look
- Not slippery underfoot, which matters around pools and steps
- Driveways, paths, alfresco areas and pool surrounds
Timing on the day is everything. Wash it back too early and the stones come loose, too late and the cement won't lift. That window is short and it moves with the weather, which is exactly where a good crew shows up and a cheap one doesn't.

We do exposed aggregate across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

Questions
Straight answers.
If yours isn't here, ring and ask. We'd rather tell you now than have you find out later.
Is exposed aggregate slippery?
Less than plain concrete. The exposed stone gives it texture, which is why it's the common choice around pools. A high gloss seal does make it slicker, so we use a matt product or add a non slip additive.
Does it need sealing?
It'll last unsealed. Sealing keeps the colour up, stops oil soaking in and makes it much easier to hose off. Most people reseal every three to five years depending on traffic and sun.
How do I clean it?
Hose it down, and a pressure wash once a year. Don't go at it with a turbo nozzle up close because you can strip stone out. If it's sealed, oil and grease wipe straight off.
